I'm not saying it was your fault.
Although you could have done more Arthur sat looking at the large whomping willow, so far it was the most unusual thing he had come across during his stay at Hogwarts, although he had only actually been around for.. well not that long. "I wounder how far it can reach" he said to himself tilting his head to the side woundering how close he could get before the tree swatted him. "Maybe if i ran at it i could touch it and then make it back without a scratch" he said actually considering it for a moment then decided it was a bad idea as he didnt realy run as fast as some of the other Daltons and this tree would probably be to fast for them.
"I need a friend" he decided radomly looking around half expecting someone to pop out of knowhere and just be his friend. He didnt see anyone like that. "My family never listen to me.. they think im weird.." he said to himself pulling the grass out of the ground where he sat. "Why cant i be normal like them" he said with a small sigh letting the wind take the grass from his hand. Oh your so naive yet so.. Outfit: here Comment: tis open. Spring was always a wonderful time of year. It was like the world was starting up again; The trees were growing back their leaves, plants were sprouting, and everything smelled fresh. The only true downfall was allergies, which Sam had none of. Even for her, this was a peaceful time of year and even lifted her own spirits. She wasn't always so sullen and snappy.
So, having wanted to enjoy some much needed fresh air, she had ventured outdoors, and for once she was wearing casual clothing instead of her Ravenclaw robes. A simple pair of jeans and a blue t-shirt. Still going with the Ravenclaw colors, of course. She still had her wand on her, too, tucked into her jeans. She never went anywhere without it.
Samantha found herself wandering toward the whomping willow, a rare genuine smile upon her face as she stared up at the sky, a light breeze disturbing her long blond hair. As she approached the unusual tree, she heard a voice. She sighed, not having wanted to intrude on anyone's conversation. As she stood still for a moment, she could tell that it was only one voice, and they seemed to be talking to themselves.
She walked around the tree until she could spot the student, and made her way toward them. She couldn't help herself, she was actually willing to start a conversation with this boy, "Hm, I wonder why. Perhaps it's because you talk to yourself aloud?" she asked in an obvious tone, in response to one of his most recent questions he had asked aloud to himself. She stood a good distance from the tree, out of it's reach as she neared the Hufflepuff, "And why would you want to be the same as your family? That just makes you boring," she admitted with a light shrug.

Although you could have done more Arthur was sitting there watching the grass blow away from his hand when he heard a girls voice. "huh?" he said looking around to see who had spoken, his eyes fell on a blond girl and he almost instantly started blushing "Sorry i didn't realise anyone was around" he said scratching the back of his head as he looked at the girl.
"So i can speak to myself.. or be boring" Artie said with a small chuckle he also figured his family was one of the least boring there was so he still wanted to be more like the others, sure he had some similarities but that was because he had been brainwashed with things since he was little like 'mud bloods are bad' even though he couldn't tell who was a mud blood and who wasn't. "I'm one of the new Dalton's.. Arthur" he said standing up and wiping the dirt off his knees. Oh your so naive yet so.. Outfit: here Comment: Hi. Samantha smirked triumphantly, glad that she had seemed to have taken the boy by surprise, "Obviously not. Or you probably wouldn't have been talking to yourself," she replied with a small shrug. Most likely he wanted to be left alone to enjoy his little peace and quiet, but she didn't feel like letting that happen.
"I'm not boring, but I don't talk to myself," she replied. Well at least not out loud, anyway.. she thought to herself. She also occasionally spoke in third person, but that was something different. When he introduced himself, she recognized his last name. One of the new Daltons. She had heard about their family from around the school. It wasn't hard to miss the latest gossip floating about, and the Dalton family was frequently spoken about because they were new arrivals to the school. Or to school, in general. She couldn't help but find home-schooling to be freaky and absurd. She couldn't help but wonder if that was all rumors or truth.
"Well, I suppose it's nice to meet you.. Arthur," she responded, glancing at his hands with distaste. There was no way she was going to do the whole shaking-hands thing with him if he had just had dirt on his hands! "Well, you should probably know who I am, then. Samantha Lichtscheidl," she introduced herself, "I'm sure you've heard of me, though. I'm the most amazing student at this school," she added smugly.

Although you could have done more Arthur smirked slightly at her comment, she was definitely whitty and clever or at least she appeared to be so.. and he presumed by the colours she was wearing she was a ravenclaw which confirmed that she was clever. He presumed that she had worked some stuff out about him by now as he was wearing yellow so it showed he was a hufflepuff.. also he had just been speaking to himself.
"Yeah but your not me" Arthur pointed out very simply. Arthur couldn't remember a time when he used to not speak to himself at all. I guess i was always a weirdo he thought to himself making sure he didn't say it out loud as that would have been embarrassing and she would probably humiliate him with it.
Arthur went to hold his hand out for her to shake but looked at the dirt on it. "Maybe not.." he said letting it drop back to his side. "nice to meet you too.. Samantha" he replied once he had found out her name. He almost felt awkward for never have heard her name before "Sorry.. Ive not heard of.. well.. anything about you" he confessed, sure he could have lied and pretended he had but then he would have been expected to say what he knew which would have all been lies. After presuming the boy was in Hufflepuff, Samantha figured he wasn't all that bad. She was much more bitter toward Gryffindors, because she wasn't to fond of their foolishness, and many of them had some muggle ancestry. Then again, it would have been nice if he was in Ravenclaw. She liked Ravenclaws more, of course, because that was her own house. She was full of house pride.
"Good thing I'm not," she responded a bit snappily. She could never really be completely nice to people. It just wasn't in her blood. She glanced down toward his dirty hand as she crossed her arms over her chest. She looked back to him and smirked slightly, "Yeah," she agreed simply. She couldn't help but frown at his next comment, "Hm.. well that's a shame. But you know about me now, at least," she replied, "Well, at least the basics. Being that I am a Ravenclaw," she began, motioning toward the blue top she wore, "And that I excel far more than the other students. Trust me.. they all envy me," she told him cockily. She was really laying it on thick.

Although you could have done more Arthur laughed as she snapped at him, he was used to being snapped at as living with your entire family and hardily getting out caused a lot of snappiness. "Well for one you'd speak to yourself" he said with a smirk slightly taking the mick out of himself.
"Well I'm sure I'll find out more about you soon enough" he said with a smile then smirked as she told him all the other students envied her. "Well you have competition now the Dalton's are here, not me exactly.. maybe Beth" he said part talking to her and part thinking out loud. Oh your so naive yet so.. Outfit: here Comment: moo. Samantha, deciding that she was going to be staying here for a while, enjoying the nice weather and such, took a couple more steps toward a large rock. She seated herself, then looked up toward Arthur again, shrugging slightly at his words, "There really isn't too much to know about me," she responded as she used one hand to brush her long blond hair behind her shoulder.
"I highly doubt that," she stated, "I've heard you guys were all home schooled. No offense, but you're not as experienced as us normal students," she told him in an obvious tone. Of course, she wasn't worried if she offended him or not, she would speak the truth anyway, "Your parents.. or whoever, probably didn't teach you as much as you need to learn," she added, "So there's no possible way anyone in your family could be any sort of competition for me," she shrugged, "Sorry.. The truth hurts sometimes," she smirked at this, crossing her arms over her chest once more.

Although you could have done more Arthur watched Samantha sitting down then a moment later sat down next to her. "Oh come on.. there's got to be some stuff" he told her as he had only known her for a few seconds and he was fairly sure there was stuff about her he didn't know and some stuff he probably never would know. As well as stuff he probably didn't want to know.
"Yeah were home schooled but you don't know my cousins and siblings" he said, a lot of them were fairly annoyed at coming to Hogwarts so they were trying to get out by.. 'causing mischief'. So far Arthur seemed to like it, sure the closest thing he had to a best friend was the girl sitting next to him but he wasn't going to tell her that.. well not unless she asked or something. "Oh don't let my good looks fool you, i have a brain that could confuse Merlin" he joked with a smirk, he wasn't that smart or that dumb, he was fairly average when it came to intelligence.
"Lies hurt more then the truth" he said back with a smirk, feeling rather proud of his comeback even if he was given some time he probably could come up with about twenty better ones. He also crossed his arms mimicking her slightly, he was only messing with her she probably was much more smarter then a lot of the Dalton's as she was in Ravenclaw and they wasn't, but the Ravenclaw Dalston's must have stood a chance at out-smarting her. It didn't bother Sam much when Arthur took a seat next to her on the large rock. Although it may not have seemed it, she was in a better mood than normal, so she would let some things slide. It definitely seemed to be the weather that was making her in a better mood.
She shrugged as her blue eyes roamed her surroundings, then came to rest on the large tree, admiring it, "Maybe there is, maybe there isn't," she responded. She did have a couple secrets hidden up her sleeve, in which she told no one, "Well, you are the first Dalton I've met around the school," she admitted, "How many more of you are there?" she asked, curious.
She let out a snort of laughter at his next comment. She wouldn't deny the fact that he was good looking, though, "This is a whole different atmosphere than home-schooling, I can assume. I have a feeling you'll be struggling more than you think you will," she responded, turning to him with a smug expression. She rolled her eyes, "Not always," she answered. She noticed his own crossed arms and smirked, "So how do you like it around here so far?" she asked suddenly.

Although you could have done more Arthur sat there on the rock looking at the whomping willow. He had read about it in a book and still didn't know why it was alive or what it was doing in the middle of the grounds at Hogwarts. Its dangerous.. but cool he thought with a smile then glimpsed over at Sam for a moment then back at the tree.
"Well i think there is even if there isn't" he said and he would stick by it. he was sure there was a lot more to Sam then what met the eyes and even though at the moment she seemed okay he still wanted to find out more about her. He figured time would tell him all he needed to know. It took Arthur an entire second to work out how many daltons there were then with a smile he said "Eight.. including me" he was fairly sure it was one of the biggest families at Hogwarts.. apart from the weasleys but they were just a stupidly huge family.
Arth smiled as she laughed, unsure whether she was laughing with or at him but he was used to reacting the same way with either and he didn't care what one she was doing, she seemed okay to him. "Well i guess if i fail in school i have my parents money to fall back on" he said with a shrug, he was sure his father could get him a job somewhere high up as the Daltons knew people in high places and some in very very low places but Arthur didn't know anyone realy, whenever a visitor was around he would just hide away in his room.
"Meh, lies, truth they all hurt people" he told Sam with a shrug as he couldn't realy come up with anything to comeback her comment. "So far its ok" he admitted, sure he hadn't been around for that long and hadn't met many people.. well realy only Sam and a few teachers. "I think i need to get settled in a bit more before i can make a final decision though" he told her tilting his head slightly as he looked from the tree to her. Oh your so naive yet so.. "Psh, well don't expect me to open up to you and reveal my deepest, darkest secrets," she told him with a humorous chuckle. Her eyes widened, not being able to disguise her surprise. He had quite a lot of family members, "Wow.. that's quite a few people," she replied, "I'm an only child, so I wouldn't know what that's like," she admitted, "Does it get crazy at home a lot?" she asked randomly.
She, herself, had quite the wealthy family. Her parents were pure blood, but were always away so she had to rely on her nanny, which is the only person she has actually ever grown close to. Although her parents never seemed to be around much, they spoiled her since she was the only child, buying her whatever she wanted, "I guess I'd be similar to that, though there isn't a possibility in the world that I would ever fail school," she said.
She nodded in understanding at his next couple of statements, "Have you met a lot of people?" she asked, curious as to how he seemed to be fitting in with the others by now. She could have sworn, when she had heard him speaking to himself earlier, that he had said he needed a friend.

Although you could have done more Arthur smiled as she told him not to expect her to open up, he didn't at all he expected her to be a mystery to him for a while until eventually he found stuff out in some unusual way. "I wont expect that from you if you wont expect it from me" he said even though he realy didn't have any huge secrets he was what he was and it didn't take that long to work him out completely.
As he noticed the look on Sam's face about the size of his family he let out a chuckle. "Yeah it gets seriously crazy" he told her, which was probably the reason he would go off alone and talk to himself in the first place.
"Well when your rich and famous, remember me because i' might need to borrow some money" he said with a smile. "Not realy, just like... you and a few teachers" he admitted with a shrug. And i already like it here he thought watching Sam with a smile. Oh your so naive yet so.. Outfit: here Comment: moo. Lyrics: Naive - The Kooks Credit: Me

Samantha knew that she would probably never have anyone that was close enough to her that she would open up to. She really barely had any true friends. More like acquaintances. Though she would say that she was perfectly fine with that, it wasn't the entire truth. She felt alone most of the time.
"Well, that explains some things," she muttered, mostly to herself, "Do you get in fights with them a lot? I've heard that siblings usually fight a lot and stuff.." she trailed off, feeling a little out of place since she couldn't really relate to him. She chuckled slightly at his next comment, "Yeah, I'm sure I will be rich and famous one day," she responded, seeming so sure of herself, "Just make sure to stay on my good side. That's the key," she added.
Sam was a bit surprised that she seemed to be the only student he had met. She hoped she hadn't really given him a bad first impression on what the students were like around here, "Well, if you're able to hold a conversation with me, of all people, then you're bound to make more friends. Apparently, I'm 'hard to talk to'," she quoted, remembering what had been said about her once before, "What year are you in?" she asked suddenly, curious as to how many more years he would have at Hogwarts. She could tell that he looked around her age, though.

Although you could have done more Arthur ignored the first thing Sam said as he wasn't sure whether she was speaking to him or herself but when she asked if they fought he had to think. "Well.. they fight, i tend to stay out of it.." he admitted, he didn't like fights but he was fairly sure if he ever needed to he could make his family's life a living hell, lucky for them he didn't want to see a single bad thing happen to any of them no matter what they did to him.
"I'll keep that in mind" he said smiling at her, she seemed pretty sure she would be rich and famous which he figured was the right attitude to have as people who didn't believe wouldnt try hard enough to achieve it.
"Whoever said that probably fancies you" he said thinking out loud. He didn't find her hard to speak to but he could speak to absolutely anyone, he figured everyone was just a human and everyone had feelings the only people he couldn't speak to were people who his family didn't like and that was only because if he did speak to them his family would moan at him. "Fifth, you?" he responded to her question, it was a weird question as he figured it should have been one of the first questions asked but it had showed up in the middle of the conversation.
