With October drawing to a close, it only seemed fit to hold a Halloween Ball. The time had arrived, and Hermione Malfoy had just finished decorating the Great Hall, having locked herself in two hours ago. Now, it was ready. She had taken great care to make the room look amazing, and she was quite proud of herself. Despite all of the effort she'd put into the room, she hadn't forgotten about her costume.
Large cobwebs hung in the corners of the Great Hall, and over the windows as well. The floating candles had been replaced by the eerie glow of the many Jack O'Lanterns. Two of the house tables had been pushed to the sides of the hall, with the other two shrunk to the size of a pencil and sitting on Hermione's desk. The tables were covered with refreshments, from pumpkin juice to Butterbeer, Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans to Cockroach Clusters, pumpkin pies to bat-shaped biscuits. The house elves in the kitchens had been delighted to be given the oppurtunity to be so creative with the food and drinks on the tables.
With a smile on her face, Hermione walked up to the raised part of the hall which normally held the staff table, but was now home to several smaller tables with chairs around them. She appreciated that not everyone wanted to dance, herself included. She might have considered it had she been a student, but as the Headmistress, she didn't want to make a fool of herself. With a flick of her wand, the doors of the hall were unlocked. 'May the ball, begin.' She thought, before sitting down at one of the tables.
If you wish to use the pumpkin images, here's the code!

Chris was one of the first students to walk into the hall, he ha to admit whoever decorated should be given an award. "nice" he said then headed straight over to the food, he took a handful of Bertie bott's every flavour beans and paused a moment hmm.. he thought throwing them all in his mouth at the same time. After managing to swallow them all down he let out a burp. "woah.. ha!" Chris laughed looking around at the other students who had heard him. He didnt realy care what they thought but now he suddenly felt thirst. Chris got himself a butter beer and looked around for someone he knew.
Chris was of course wearing his costume which made him look slightly foolish but on the up side a lot of people didnt even know who Link was. Chris had always had the opinion if yo didnt look like a fool in a costume then you obviously wasnt doing it right. Chris eyes then suddenly fell on the Headmistress. hmm.. he thought walking over to her "Hey miss.. Looking good" Chris admitted looking her up and down, he found that girls always looked better then normal in costumes.. while dudes of course should look goofy.

Muse walked in, she looked around at the decorations and everything and smiled, she hadn't honestly smiled for a god while her costume was probably breaking some code of moral standereds, but honestly she didn't care, she had nothing better to make, she was banned from potions, and that kicked out half of her life, and the other half, was talking to to Mrs. Malfoy. She sighed looking for a place to hide.

She saw no dark corners, so she reluctnatly went up to the table the Headmistress was sittinga and smiled. "Well i am here...." she said, her body languege was slighty distant from Chris, she didn't even look at him, she wasn't mad, but if she looked at him she might burst into tears, which she would want to do.

Having heard her mother's plans for a Halloween ball, the Slytherin girl had been sure that it would be bound to impress. Stepping into the great hall, her prediction was proved correct. But then, this was Hermione, it was always going to be impressive, not to mention perfect. She didn't know how she'd managed all of this, but she hated to admit it - it was even better than she'd expected. Glancing up at the many pumpkin shaped accessories as she passed them, a group of people came to her attention. Picking up a glass as she passed, she examined the other costumes of the students already here.
This examination of course, led to her checking her own costume. To be honest she hadn't been completely confident with her choice. Red wasn't a colour she wore regularly, especially such a vibrant shade. It was at this moment that she was glad that she wasn't a Gryffindor. For some reason, her skin tone didn't appear to suit red, which would have been difficult to avoid if she'd been sorted into the rival house. Nobody had actually told her that she didn't suit bright red, but she was still unsure. Pulling on the edge of her skirt, so that it didn't appear as short, she wandered into the middle of the decorated room. Still analyzing the other students' choices for costumes, she frowned slightly.
With her attention being caught once more by the people in one corner of the room, she noticed her own mother. Rather surprised by the Headmistress' costume choice, she walked towards her. "You never told me you were wearing that?" she questioned, ignoring the other two students for a few minutes. Turning her head towards the three of them, her blonde curls fell on her shoulder. "The hall looks nice." she commented, after a thought. [/blockquote]

As Vincent walked in he placed on the white mask on the left side of his face, concealing everything but his dark eye. he looked around, not to bad, he was in a good mood after downing thirty some swedish fish, he stared around the room, to many Slytherin for hims comfert but he ignored his bias against them and strolled up to the table. He looked at Jaslene, his eyes seem to smile, He offered a hand to the Headmistress. "I'll be sure to ask atleast on dance from you Mrs. Malfoy."
He looked at Jaslene the outfit was fitting for her, he smirked at his own sarcasm. "And you too Jaslene." He smiled honestly, the curve of his left side of his mouth concealed under his mask. A perfect fit, the Phantom of the Opera, a man who belived his was ugly and a monster, and that no one could love sucha ugly person.

Hermione's costume certainly seemed to be attracting a lot of people's attention; she'd have to keep it for Draco, that was for sure. The first person that spoke to her was Christopher Weasley. 'Miss, looking good.' "Why thank you Mr. Weasley. Do enjoy the ball, and watch yourself with those beans." She replied with a smile, having heard the belch that had followed them.
"So you are Miss Lorie. How are you getting on now?" Hermione asked the Slytherin as she sat down at the table, having not spoken to her since the incident in the Potions classroom. She had to admit, she did feel slighty guilty for having destroyed all of the potions, though she felt that it had been the right thing to do.
"I've got to leave you some surprises, what would be the fun in life without them?" She said to her daughter, smiling as she complimented the hall. "It took time, but it paid off. Will have to get a few Muggle photographs of the place before I take it all down." She said, talking more to herself towards the end of the sentence than to Jaslene.
"Vincent, I shalln't dance with a student. Sorry to burst your bubble, but there are plenty of other people in the hall." She said, having not yet found out about the events of the recent days. She allowed a smile as he offered to dance with Jaslene, he seemed a nice enough kid, but she doubted Jaslene would stand for a Ravenclaw.

"I Will, but you better watch yourself dressed like that" Chris replied to Hermione with a small smirk, he then heard someone coming towards them he turned to see muse in a costume that was a bit.. for want of a better word skimpy. Then again most of the girls in the hall were wearing costumes that showed off there skin oh i like it here he thought, he didnt bother greeting Muse as she didnt mention him and he was trying to cut her away from him completely.
Then came the next footstep, Chris turned to see Jaslene walking towards them, she also didnt greet him we'll ive made an impression Chris thought holding back a laugh. Then the next footsteps, some weird kid who he had never realy introduced himself to, Chris paused a moment to see how Hermione would react to each student, he smirked slightly when she said she wouldn't dance with a student "Don't worry.. you'll lighten up later and we'll have to drag you from he dance floor" Chris joked sitting down ontop of the next table. Vicky loved a chance to dress up as she pleased, uniforms were so restricting! How can teachers honestly say that everyone is unique, when they have no choice but to have at least five stripes on their tie, shirt tucked in, top button done up. Did they honestly expect students to pay any attention the the uniform policy? Funnily enough, they did, the only problem was, the students didn't.
Quite proud of the charm she'd managed to pull of, Victoria walked into the Great Hall, her red tail swishing behind her. She knew it could've gone horribly wrong, but thankfully, the spell had worked, and she had an actual tail. She'd decided not to try with actual horns. With a smile wide across her face, she entered the hall in her costume and looked around. The hall looked pretty good, but having been there for six years already, she knew that it looked a whole lot better at Christmas.

This being a halloween ball, Shanice didn't want to dress like a zombie or anything like that, she just decided to wear mostly black to the dance. She wasn't sure who she would dance with, probably just hang around with her friends for the night. A short black dress that came up just above her knees, with a pair of high heels shoes on, that had encrusted diamonds on the edge of her shoes. She hadn't gone over the top with her make up yet she looked noticeable, of course her mask place on her face which stayed in place, not once moved.
Shanice walked into the hall, feeling like the only person out of place. She looked around to see if she could see anyone, looking over she spotted Vincent, she wasn't entirely sure if she should go over and say hello, but then she spotted Vicky in her outfit. She walked over and pulled the girls tail. "Vicky M'dear!" She exclaimed with a rather large grin on her face as she waited for her response.

Vicky let out a shriek as someone pulled her tail. 'Damn, haven't they figured it's real!?' She asked herself, turning around, prepared to yell at whoever it was that had done so. Her expression calmed instantly when she realised it was Shanice. She'd let her off for that one, but next time, ooh, she wouldn't want there to be a next time. Despite being in Gryffindor, Victoria could turn just as nasty as Slytherin. But not to her friend of course.
"Shanice." Vicky replied with a smile, swishing her tail behind her. It was definetely a weird feeling, but something that she just wanted to play around with. Sure, it was a bit odd for her to be playing with her own tail, that was something boys did, but she couldn't help herself. "Surely you want the boys to see your pretty little face?" She added, pointing to her own face where the mask was on Shanice's.

Kaleb checked his watch, and saw that it was time to get ready. Today was the day of the Halloween ball, and it was a brilliant opportunity for Kale to meet some new girls. He had specially ordered his costume to be made for him. It was a character from a certain muggle film that he had liked since he was young. He carefully dressed in his beetlejuice costume, ensuring that he didn't rip it at all. He checked himself in the mirror, he looked perfect! He knew that it would be hard to recognize him, therefore, he could meet some new girls without worrying about his reputation with girls preceding him! Kaleb had loved Tim Burton, he was quite frankly, his favorite producer! He produced the animated film 'a nightmare before Christmas' which was one of Kaleb's favorite! He was also the producer of 'Beetlejuice', so when Kaleb heard about that film, he made a point to hunt it down and watch it. He had first seen 'a nightmare before Christmas' when one of his nannies showed it to him when he was 12. From then on, Kaleb had hunted down a bunch of Burton films, and watched them, his favorite being Bettlejuice, and this ball gave him the opportunity to dress as Beetlejuice himself!
Once Kale was sure he looked awesome, he headed out of the common room and up the stairs, through the entrance and into the great hall. He looked around with his eyes wide. He had to admit, who ever decorated this place did a mighty fine job! There were cobwebs hanging around the room, and a bunch of foods that were Halloween themed. He walked over to the food and snatched himself a bat shaped biscuit. He brought it to his mouth and took a bite. It was pretty good, fair play! He got himself a butterbeer and glanced around. There were a bunch of girls there already. "That's great!" He said, a smirk appearing on his face. He wondered briefly what Annie would be wearing, maybe he'd dance with her, flirt for a little before moving on, as always! He noticed a pretty blonde girl who he remembered to be the Chaser on one of the teams. He himself was also a chaser, and so that would give him a starting point. He moved over to where she stood. But he gave up on her the moment that he saw she was talking to someone. Girls were harder to charm if they were with a friend! So he decided that he would go stand next to the buffet table, where he waited for someone interesting to come in.

COSTUME. At first, Annie hadn't even been planning to go the the ball. Not becuase she thought that she was better than that, but she just couldn't put up with the whole cheesiness of Halloween. Every year, the hall would be decorated with cobwebs and made dark and pumpkins and things, and it all just felt so the same to her. She wouldn't have gone if she had anything better to do. So, she already had her pretty little dress on that showed off her perfect legs, she was putting her very ling stockings on before putting on her hoes. She ran a hand through her hair once, and looked at her perfectly made up face. Annie added the finishing touch which was the hat, and smiled at her work. She looked good, and she sure as hell knew it.
Annie grabbed her broom. It was sort of ironic that she was dressed as a complete stereotype of withces in the muggle world, and she didn't even know why she did it. But to be honest, the costume did look amazing on Annie. She was late to the ball, but she walked down the corridor with no rush at all. Her shoes making sort of clicking sounds, and when she finally reeached the doors they were open. Annie could hear music coming out, and it was this 'scary' stuff that was completely cheesi Halloween stuff. Oh well, she'd deal with it, ti was better than doing nothing. Finally, she walked in through the doorway and looked around. Yep, it was all big and magnificent, but it was so simillar to last years, that she wasn't mesmerised. Annie stood there for a second longer, making sure that everyone's eyes were on her as she entered.

Zane walked in behinh Annie Gilbert, the on studen of Slytherin he really was glad he hadn't really gotten to meet yet, his costume was hand made, including a small golden crown placed on the slight back of his head to make it looked taller, a red cape and black undr clothes was his outfit in general, and a staff with a charm cast over it that made it glow slightly, he walked in, and honestly he looked extremly preppy, wether he was aware or not.
He looked around, not to bad actually, he walked to the talbe and bowed to Hermione, keeping his composure next to the students quite well, he turned to Muse lorie, the one Slytherin he beilved that was not Slytherin at all, she was to innocent to much like a rose. She looked at him slighty her eyes were rather sad. Zane wanted to ask if she was okay but that wasn;t up to him really so he simply walked around the table and sat next to Hermione and laid his staff on the table, a book appeared in his hand.
He looked over at her, her outfit certainly did fit her well. "Not bad Mrs. Malfoy." he commented before turning to his book, his feet automatically swing onto the table

[Ooc: I had asked Hermione Jean Malfoy for Permission before doing this post] Not everyone is what they seem to be... So there he stood under the influence of the Bedazzling Hex. It's time to show these people that my costumes the better one. He said to himself as he knew he could not be seen by anyone and was well away from the crowd. Ligasto had found himself hiding in the trophy room where no one would suspect him to be. Ligasto had explained to the staff that he was visiting someone in Knockturn ally during the time of the ball to explain his absence. Ligasto was about to start the first few steps of his assignment as an under cover Death Eater. Slowly he took steps closer. His feet echoing slightly in the trophy room as he took the few steps closer and closer to the Great Hall. What is this foul music? He said to himself as he took out his wand slowly and placed it to his side. The music had started to grow louder and the sound of cheering, laughter and talking started to seed itself into Ligasto's ears. The louder the voices and music, the closer the crowd was. Ligasto had to remain hidden if he were complete his assignment for today. He had finally reached the door that led into the Great Hall. He stopped and took a deep breath as he waited for the children near the Trophy Room to move away. It was either they move or Ligasto be forced to move them by any means possible. He was only seconds away before doing the assignment in which to be done. Ligasto was never ashamed that he was a death eater. He was more proud that he was a Death Eater than a teacher and was damn proud that he was a senior ranking Death Eater. Ligasto had everything ready as the voices of the children near the trophy room faded into nothingness. Slowly he opened the door that led into the Great Hall. Through a small crack he took a glimpse of what was around him. He went over his plan once more in his head once more before he had actually executed the plan. Let's do this! he said to himself to gather motivation. Ligasto knew that the staff of Hogwarts and most of the students would of been here and had chosen today to carry out one of his first assignments here. With his plan ready to go he slowly opened the door making sure no one saw the door opening. He closed the door not making a sound and left it slightly open so that he could escape this way when he was complete. His plan was set out so that he could do what was needed then leave and pretend that he rushed out of Diagon Ally in aid of the Hogwarts students and teachers. With this in his mind he raised his wand and with an evil smirk slashed it across the air and watched as all the light faded into an abyss of darkness. Soon the students and staff were engulfed by darkness which was the first stage. This is going well already. he said to him self as he was about to carry out the next part. With this part done, Ligasto knew soon the teacher would put the light back on at any second. With an evil smirk on his face, Ligasto raised his wand to the ceiling and screamed " Morsmordre" With this done he watched as a snake blasted out of his wand and rushed toward the ceiling to form the dark mark. Yes everything is going to plan! He said to himself with a grin as he quickly vanished before anyone could of seen him. He preformed the Obliteration Charm incise he had left any footsteps and quickly ran down to the trophy room and out to the grounds through the use of portraits and secret passages and once out of school grounds Apperated to Knockturn ally. Although this may of been a success to the Death Eaters, the simple thought of being seen still haunted Ligasto's mind as he used a Deletrius Charm on himself to remove the hex that he had placed on himself. Once he had removed the charm, he took a deep breath and started to laugh as he walked into a store where soon an owl or patronus from a staff member would alter Ligasto of the recent activity at Hogwarts. All he had to do now was wait and hope no one would see him.

Hermione smiled at Zane as he complimented her, though there was no time to reply as the hall was plunged into darkness. The only problem with having a costume like this was finding somewhere to put her wand, though she'd managed to find somewhere whilst decorating the hall. Ripping the tail from the costume, she pulled her wand out and focused on the incantation, light pouring from the tip of her wand and lighting up the entire hall once more. The pumpkins began to relight themselves and Hermione finished the spell.
Her eyes widened in horror as she looked up at the ceiling. The Dark Mark. With another wave of her wand, she attempted to remove it, but failed. 'Who has done this!?' She asked herself, before calling out across the hall to the students. There would be no way for her to hide the mark from them, all she could do was end the ball early. The trick-or-treating would have to be called off. 'Expecto Patronum'. Around fifty otters leapt from the tip of her wand, the silvery mist soaring through the air towards Hogsmeade, apart from three. Those three were on their way to the other Professors, and carried a different message.
The main group were going to Hogsmeade, carrying the calm voice of Hermione, informing them that the trick-or-treating had been cancelled due to behaviour at the ball. She didn't mention the mark once. The three silver otters that were heading to the staff were very different, and the panic was clearly relayed in her voice, both by the tone and what she said. 'Get to Hogwarts, and I mean now. You will not delay if you have any sense.'
"Annie, Victoria, Shanice, Vincent, get the students to their common rooms now." She said abruptly, before turning to the Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher beside her. "Ligasto, Thomas, Matthew, and Rosalyn are on their way. Make sure that there are no students in the corridors, I don't know how quickly the culprit will have got away." Hermione said to him, giving a discrete jerk towards the mark on the ceiling. 'Hermione Malfoy, you have to remember the spell to get rid of it!' the woman told herself, knowing that she'd seen many a Dark Mark whilst helping Harry.
