matthew had been around the castle a lot lately doing random things with random people for random reasons, but when looked back on the past few months, he couldn't think of anything valuable that he'd gotten out of it all. his life had all of a sudden seemed rather aimless, and he hadn't really been heading in any particular direction with things. perhaps it was time to change that. he'd decided to head down to the lawns, even though it sounded rather pointless. there wasn't much that could happen on a patch of grass, but surprises always managed to find their way to matt. sometimes they were pleasant, and sometimes not so much, but what was life without a little risk? nothing risked, nothing gained. so matt was walking down the path, regretting having not grabbed his ipod from his bedside table as he did so. then again, he was hoping to find somebody to talk to, and having headphones in was awful antisocial. at least that was what his parents told him. personally, he didn't think it mattered all that much if they just had the one earphone in. he sat down on the grass, though finding it a bit damp, he flicked his wand at it, drying it off and putting blanket over it for good measure. he looked out at the lake, which was still. sometimes that was a normal thing, but on other days it was quite unsettled, which most people associated with the merfolk or the giant squid. he often wondered how they managed to tolerate each other, though perhaps that was what the problem was. then again, he hadn't taken care of magical creatures, so what should he know about animals getting along? no, perhaps creatures would have been a better word. he doubted merfolk would like being referred to as animals.

it‘s all part of the choices that you make even when you think you‘re right you have to give to take B U T T H E R E S S T I L L T O M O R R O W ! - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Annie couldn't decide what she wanted to do today. She would go and find Chris, but she really couldn't be bothered with hunting all over the castle for him right now, and besides, if he wanted to see her, he could just find her! Finding a fiery, red-headed Gryffindor who dressed as loud as Annie did was much easier than finding Chris, surely! She was full of indecision today, as she couldn't even find what she wanted to wear! She settled at last on a pair of black skinny's, a grey tank top and a red cardigan. After at least ten minutes of deliberation, Annie decided that if she stayed in the common room alone any longer she would die of boredom. She also decided that it was time she went for a walk to stretch her legs, and get some fresh air, after all, she'd not done that as much as she usually would because of the cold whether. Although that was dying out slowly, and so it seemed a perfect time to kick back into the habit of a walk on the lawns. And who knew who she'd meet there!
Annie made it out of the common room, and no one even glanced at her as she went, showed how energetic people were today, as they all usually watched the little red head leave the room. In fact people usually watched anyone who left the room, so the place must have been dead! She walked at her average speed, which could be seen as pretty slow for some people! Eventually she reached the entrance hall, and pulled the doors open. She stepped out into the air, and a breeze ruffled her hair, which was left down, because she didn't want to tie it back. She shoved her hands in her pockets and began to walk. Finding a spot on the grass, she was about to sit down, when she realised that it was damp. She groaned, then looked around for anywhere else she could sit. She spied a boy on a blanket nearby, and smiled, thankful for her luck. She walked over and stopped next to the corner of the blanket. "Hey there! mind if I sit down? Good, didn't think you would. I'm Annie!"
She said, dropping to the ground and sitting cross legged on the blanket. She offered him her hand, a friendly smile on her face. [/blockquote] - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

it wasn't long before somebody approached him, and it would have been quite hard to miss them, what with her bright red hair. he recognised her to be one of the girls in his year, though he knew she definitely wasn't in hufflepuff. slytherin's just didn't know how to be sociable, but the just-do-as-you-like thing seemed to be present. perhaps a gryffindor? people tended to think of the gryffindors as the good guys and the slytherins as the bad guys, whilst the hufflepuffs and ravenclaws sat in the middle thinking what a load of bullshit the whole thing was. it had been so long ago that godric and salazar had been in their little bitch fight, and once again helga and rowena had just sat to one side and thought it was pathetic and ridiculous. well, he imagined so anyway. if the gryffindors and slytherins carried traits of their founder, and the current ravenclaws and hufflepuffs thought it was ridiculous, was it all that crazy to think that their founders had thought the same thing. why did matthew have to make everything in his brain so complicated? it made him wonder sometimes whether he should have been put in ravenclaw, but he did have a habit of putting off work until the last minute, though ravenclaw seemed to do it the minute they got it. literally. he'd seen quite a few of them complete an essay that was supposed to take a week done by the end of the lesson. it was actually quite scary just how clever they were, and nobody seemed to realise that they were actually much more capable of turning the wizarding world upside down than a lot of the slytherins. he could worry about all that later, right now there was someone sitting next to him that probably thought he was completely deaf or just plain ignorant. "yeah, sure." matthew replied, despite her obviously going to sit there whether he was okay with it or not. "matt." he replied, shaking her hand.

She was willing to bet that he knew that whatever he said she was going to sit down. Unless it was something completely riddiculous like 'get away from me you stupid, assuming Gryffindor!' at which point, the only thing that she would want to do is punch him, and sitting didn't really come into that equation! She glanced her eyes over his face, and he looked oddly thoughtful, but not so much as to be a Ravenclaw. No, if he was a ravenclaw, chances were he'd either be rushing off to the library right now, or reading some book with a look like they didn't want to be disturbed, and seen as he was doing neither, she excluded that house. He was in her year, she knew that much, which meant he wasn't a Gryffindor, because she would have known him. And he didn't look like a Slytheirn, although neither did Chris really, but she was willing to bet that he wasn't one for the snakes. So that left, by power of deduction, Hufflepuff. Annie smiled as she came to that conclusion, as she was fairly sure that she was right. "Thanks, for letting me interrupt your peice. The grass was wet, and I fancied some company. Let me guess, sixth year, Hufflepuff?"
She asked, just to confirm that her thoughts had been right. Annie liked being right, and she hated being wrong. Which was a typical trait in her family. Along with her short temper, she got them both from her mother. Annie stretched her legs out in front of her and placed her hands on the ground to prop her up. She couldn’t sit cross legged for too long, it got uncomfortable! She smiled at Matt and decided that he was worth getting to know a bit, as he seemed like a nice guy. After all, he had let her share his blanket, even though she was a complete stranger and could have been a Slytherin for all he knew! ”So, tell me a little about yourself? I want to know I’m not imposing on the blanket of a psycho!” Annie joked. The best way to get to know someone was to ask themselves about, well, themselves! It would help get the truth, and an overall background in the space of a few conversations! And if she got on well enough with Mattie then she would love to hang with him again. And it was likely that would happen, she got on well with boys. Which didn’t really help the image that she wasn’t a complete slut. People would never believe that she was a virgin! And they probably wouldn’t believe it now that she was dating Chris, people probably expected them to be sleeping together. She hated people and their assumptions about people’s sex lives. In her opinion it would be better to just ask! [/blockquote] - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

"yeah, it sucks when everything's wet." he replied, before confirming her conclusion which she had voiced towards the end of her sentence. "yup. it gets dull after a while, but at least not everyone hates you. like slytherin i mean, gryffindor's not too bad in that sense." matthew probably hadn't made the best move in implying that gryffindor was bad in some ways, but even annie couldn't deny that it wasn't a perfect house. for one, a seventh year girl had slept around a bit, and although it wasn't good to dwell on the bad things, you couldn't ignore them. to be honest, he hated how everything seemed to revolve around the snakes and the lions, and the teachers seemed to forget about the ravens and the badgers, or at least it came across that way. how was he meant to prove he wasn't a psycho? she seemed a little wacky herself, though in a good way as opposed to a complete freak, so perhaps their definitions varied. either way, he didn't consider himself to be a psycho. "umm... i play keeper," matt began, though instantly found himself unable to think of anything else to say. he could imagine her response in his head. 'well mattie, your like sounds really... crap.'

"Tell me about it! I mean, there are times when water is good, but I don't like rain all that much, it dampens the grass, and then you cant sit out on it."
she said, happy that this guy was talking to her properly. After all, he could have run away screeming, as her personality was a bit loud, and she didn't tone it down. Why should she tone down who she was? They could like her or lump it, and that was the ultimatum! Loud and a bit hyper was always Annie's way, and she was a bit overwhelming, especially for someone in Hufflepuff, after all, they were meant to be pretty shy and quiet compared to Gryffindor! and most definately quiet compared to Annie! Her red hair and way of dress said it all really. This is me, get used ot it! Annie frowned at the mention of Slytherin and Gryffindor. "Yeah, some Slytherin can be pretty bad, like Kaleb Garica for one. But, well, I date Chris Weasley, he's a Slytherin, and he's not all that bad! I don't think that your personality should be based quite as much on house. It should be on getting to know the person a little more, and then finding out what you think of them" Annie said with a smile. She paused, then continued. "And there are some Gryffindor's that are just as bad as Slytherin, I will admit. But I don't think I am one of them" She said with a smile. She didn't think she was anything like a Slytheirn to be honest. Although, she could say she was alot like a Slytherin when attributing it to a specific person. She was alot like Chris, but he probably should have been a Gryffindor, so she couldn't count that. Annie grinned when he mentioned 'keeper'. "No way! I'm a beater! I have anger issues" She added on the end, then laughed a little. She was telling the truth, she did have anger issues, but being beater helped her with that, as she put alot of anger and energy into hitting the bludger, and that helped alot! And failing that, she would practice the karate that she learned when she was younger, channeling all the anger into each move, until there was no anger left. Anger ran in the female line of her family though, so it wasn't part of her personality, but from her mother. [/blockquote] - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

"is there a single girl he hasn't slept with?" matt replied, relieved to find that the conversation wasn't going too badly. he had a habit of either talking non-stop or not at all, but he seemed to be at a comfortable stage in between the two. matthew hoped she realised that he meant kaleb garcia, who was very well known for being a manwhore to put it bluntly, as opposed to referring to her boyfriend. that certainly wouldn't be a good idea, especially considering that she had now revealed that she was a beater. with anger issues. he laughed lightly, finding that such a quality would probably help a lot with her position, and found himself very appreciative that beaters rarely hit in the directions of keepers as much as they did other players. that was one of the upsides to being a keeper. in addition to defending the hoops, you defended yourself quite a bit too. "i'll remember to stay on your good side then." mattie replied, his tone a mixture of humour and seriousness.

"Me, not for lack of trying mind. But I knew about him before he tried to get me, so I shot him down straight away."
She was glad that Mattie knew about Kaleb's manwhore reputation, otherwise he probably would have had no clue whatsoever what she was on about, and that would have been even worse. She would assume that if he did have no clue, he'd probably nod and smile, and just pretend like he did, just to appease her. He seemed like the type of person who'd do that, but hey, maybe she'd pinned him wrong. "Hey, I heard that Kaleb and a Gryffindor, Victoria Bennett were even together once! I mean, you'd think that Vicky would have more sense than to give into him!" Annie said, shaking her head. She'd seen Vicky around, and she believed the rumour was true, as she saw him wrap his arm around Vicky's waist at the Halloween ball, a telling sign of some like or intimacy! It was just odd, she'd heard that Vicky was a bit of a slut, but she'd never thought that she'd go with kaleb Garcia! Annie would probably rather die before going with him. Specially not if he was going to be her first time! Although that said, he'd probably be pretty good in bed! Annie smiled at what Mathew said, and the tone he said it in. "You better" She said, mock threateningly, then broke down laughing. She only punched people that really got on her nerves! But she'd never use her beater bat, because that would surely mean she'd get booted off the team, and she loved Quidditch, it was a huge part of her life! She didn’t know what she’d do if she didn’t have Quidditch to occupy some of her time! The feeling of flying was such an immense thrill that she was almost hooked! She’d hate to lose that. And the whole in game experience was indescribable! And it earned your house points, inching you even more toward the house cup, and she was glad that she had a huge part in that, as this year, she wanted Gryffindor to win! She’d love if Gryffindor one next year too, as it would be her last year at Hogwarts, and for her house to hold the cup, that would be immense!
