. and she will give them all the love she can, even when love won't give her half a chance. and she will stay with them til all hope is gone, she's got a heart like a sad song...
Lily sighed as she stepped into Diagon Alley, the clicking of her heels on the pavement drowned out by the senseless chatter of other members of the wizarding community, all of whom seemed to be packed into the little street. She muttered a curse under her breath and rubbed at her forehead, trying to dull the ache that was gradually getting stronger. She was thankful that today was her day off, Merlin himself knew that she could not handle the stressful work that came with being an Auror at the same time as a headache, but a pain reliever potion would cure the problem, if only she could get through the crowd to the potions store to replenish her stocks. This was going to be one hell of a day! It wasn't unusal for Lily to have something to complain about, though she rarely complained aloud to others, she had gotten over that little habit shortly after leaving Hogwarts. But, never the less, things had gone downhill for her in the past 17 years, she had hit rock bottom and only her father threatening to take her children from her had roused her from her depressive state. All that over one man, it seemed rather pathetic when put into perspective!
She pushed her way through the crowd, apologising each time she accidentally bumped into someone though she wished they would just part down the middle and let her get through, this was really starting to get to her, she hated crowds and this one seemed to be making her headache much worse. It seemed like hours before she reached the outside of Slug and Jigger's apothecary but she was definately pleased to see that there were very few people inside. She pushed the door open gently, the soft tinkling of a bell above her head signalling to the owner that she had entered the premises. She allowed herself to release the breath she had been, unknowingly, holding in as she slowly moved towards the back shelves where the pre-made potions were stocked. Of course, buying them like this was not as good as making them yourself but she had no other choice at this point in time. She walked slowly from shelf to shelf, scanning the items one by one until she came across a light blue potion and let a relieved sigh pass her lips, this was what she had been looking for.
She picked up a bottle and examined it carefully, making sure there was nothing in it (something she did out of habit these days), it would do no good to have some obscure object floating inside her potion. Can I help you with anything? the owner had bustled over from where he had been standing and stopped to her right its about bloody time she thought to herself too bad if I had no idea what I was looking for her annoyance didn't outwardly show but she definately felt it inside "are these the strongest pain relievers you have?" she asked, trying to keep her voice calm even as her head felt like a troll was having a party inside it and had invited a few friends over to join the festivities. The shop keep examined the bottle and shook his head there is one that is a bit stronger, i'll just be a moment and with that he moved off towards another row of shelves that Lily could have sworn had not been there before. He returned moments later with another blue potion, slightly darker in colour. She nodded her thanks and indicated that she would keep browsing and he left her alone once more.
Picking up a couple of the weaker potion, for extra measure, she examined the nearby shelves. There were potions for almost anything one could think of. Pepper up potions lined the south side of the wall and sleeping draughts covered the top shelves, where children could not accidentally dose themselves with them. The more harmful and expensive potions were kept behind the counter, out of reach of children and suspecting thieves. Satisfied that she had everything she needed Lily turned around and headed in the direction of the counter, rolling her eyes at the thought of dealing with that man again, he gave her the creeps. Just as she rounded one of the shelves, hardly looking where she was going, she walked into something rather solid... and humanoid. A blush crept over her cheeks "gosh, I am so sorry" she said, a little flustered.
