Dear Sissie, Everything's going fine at home. Ben misses you, and he says hi because he's helping me write this letter for you. Colin says Hi too. Colin says he's thankful now that you always cooked, because he can't. (He can't. It tastes icky.) Can you come home soon? Ben and Colin don't know how to play dolls, or braid my hair. It's really long now. Love, Isabella, Ben and Colin
Shifting a little to her right, Millie felt a pang of guilt for being away for so long. She loved her siblings, she really did. The food she sent them (turkey, occasional pie) could hold them over the days their parents were gone for long periods of time. Millie remembered Isabella from when she was a toddler and Ben was almost the same age. Colin was almost 11 himself, and secretly was hoping he could attend Hogwarts as well. Millie looked at the small child's scrawling and grinned, turning to go write a reply when she ran into someone which caused her to fall on the ground. "Sorry! Sorry, I'm so sorry! Oh my gosh..." Millie stammered, standing up with a her jeans coated in slush.

Trevor had been planning to send a letter out to his family all week, but had yet to have the chance. He had just been so.. busy, lately. Well, not really busy. He had just been procrastinating. It was something he did frequently, especially on his homework. Figuring that his parents would probably start worrying if they didn't hear from him soon, he had sat in his dorm for a couple moments to write up a short, quick letter.
It was short and sweet, not including any details on pranks or troubles he had caused. He was always making himself sound like a good student, stating that he was getting along with all the other students and teachers, and that Hogwarts life was going swell. That wasn't the entire truth, of course. Most teachers normally disliked his obnoxious behavior and couldn't stand him.
Trev ran up the spiraling flight of stairs toward the owlery, not really paying attention to where he was going. He just wanted to send this letter off and get it done with, not wanting to waste any more of his time. His thoughts were interrupted, though, when his body collided abruptly with someone else's.
Before he had a chance to help the girl to her feet, she had already managed to scramble up herself. He looked her over once, noticing that her jeans were now covered in slush. Other than that, he found her very attractive, "Oh, I'm sorry," he replied quickly, "Aw, that sucks," he commented on her now dirty jeans, "Real sorry about that, it's my fault, wasn't paying any attention," he added quickly, taking the blame as he smiled slightly at the brunette.

Millie hadn't even been paying attention to who she had run into. She was too busy attempting to dry off her note on her shirt, and dishearteningly noticed the writing was diminishing as well. Millie looked up as soon as her new company had just said it was his fault. "No, I wasn't-" She looked up and paused for a minute, taking in who she had run into. Millie coughed and grinned. "It's Ok. It's partly my fault, so I guess we share the blame now, yeah?" She said awkwardly, stretching out her hand with the letter in it. Wrong hand, loser. She thought to herself while switching hands. "Millie Malone." She finished with a weak grin, holding her hand out for a shake.

Trevor couldn't help but allow a small smirk to appear upon his lips when he noticed her reaction after finally looking up to see who she had run into. Then again, he was used to people having to pause for a moment after laying eyes on his beautiful face. Great, now he was sounding like he had an overly large ego. Which he didn't, he didn't think, it was just those thoughts sometimes passed through his mind randomly.
"Well, I was the one who was running and not paying attention, so I take the blame entirely," he replied, smiling down at the attractive brunette who was now introducing herself. He chuckled slightly when she stuck out the hand that held her letter, then quickly switched. He reached his own hand out and took hers, shaking it slightly. His own note was in his pocket, "Trevor... Schumacher," he replied with a small smile.
When having glanced at the note in her hand, he realized it was now extremely dirty and the writing that he couldn't make out was becoming hard to read, "Really sorry about that," he added, apologizing for what felt like the millionth time, "Was that one you just recieved or one you were about to send?" he asked, raising a brow slightly as his bright blue eyes examined her, "Because if it was one you were about to send, I have extra parchment and stuff with me if you wanna re-write it," he explained.

Millie had seen Trevor around before a couple of times. She thought vaguely that he might have been around the common room, or the Great Hall. She never was good at remembering faces and such. Millie still felt a pang of guilt for running into Trevor, but she realized she was the one knocked down.
"It's nice to meet you, Trevor" Millie said with a smile, stuffing the note into her pocket. Inside her sweatshirt, it felt like the note had stuck to the inside of the pocket. Slightly grossed out, Millie took out the note and shook a little of the moisture off.
"Don't worry about it..." Millie said, looking up into Trevors' eyes then back to the letter. "Was that one you just recieved or one you were about to send?" "Aw, it's just a letter from my little siblings. I'm actually heading back to write one up soon...but I was going to stay here for a little bit because of the view." Millie said with a shrug. I hope that wasn't as bad as I thought it was... Millie thought worriedly, not wanting to come off as a cruel sister. "Thank you for the offer, though." Millie repiled to Trevor's suggestion about re-writing the letter. [/blockquote]

"Nice to meet you, as well, Millie," he replied, flashing her his charming smile. Trevor grimaced slightly when he saw her note again, watching as she tried to shake the moisture off of it, "Well, hopefully you remembered what it said," he joked, chuckling slightly, hoping that she wouldn't be too upset about her ruined note from her younger siblings.
"No problem," he replied when she thanked him for the offer. Trev reached his hand into his own pocket, taking out his own note as he took a couple steps toward a group of owls. They were school owls, so he just took a random one and began tying his note to one of it's leg, "So, siblings, huh?" he asked, still tying the note, "How old are they?" he asked, deciding to strike up a conversation if he ever wanted to get anywhere with this girl.

"Oh yeah. I remember what it said, for sure." Millie said with a smile. She folded the letter neatly and placed it in her jeans pocket. It wasn't going to get any drier. Mentally she was already writing a note back to them, and considering the treats she could send to them for Christmas.
"It's nice to meet you as well, Millie." Trevor had said, flashing a smile in her direction. She looked down briefly with a small smile and watched Trevor walk away towards a school owl. Millie almost offered up the owl she had just received the letter from, but remembered that the owl was probably half asleep by now and had just taken a long trip.
"So, siblings, huh?" Trevor asked her about her siblings and their ages. Millie looked out the window for a second. "There's Isabella, who's four. Ben is about eight, and Colin's ten." She said, smiling. Millie could have shown him a picture, but didn't feel like getting sappy or having to explain why her pictures didn't move like everyone else's did. " Do you have any siblings?" Millie asked Trevor.

When the school owl was set to go, it took flight quickly and soared right out of the owlery, into the wintry weather. Trevor watched it fly for a couple moments, until it was out of sight, then turned to look at Millie once more, "Wow, that's a lot of siblings," he mumbled, mostly to himself.
He shoved his hands into his jean pockets in a casual manor, "Yeah, I have an older sister named Sarah," he began, "She's already married and everything," he added with a slight chuckle. Since he came from a muggle family, he was the only wizard. His sister wasn't even a witch, which made her quite a bit jealous of him. Since she lived near his parents, he figured sending one letter was fine. No need to waste his time making two.
"Do you come from a pureblood family?" he asked casually, randomly glancing around at the other owls swooping about. Some of them were school owls, and the others were the students' owls who enjoyed staying in the owlery.

Millie also watched the owl swoop off, smiling. The sight of the owl always amazed her with the beauty and grace of the owl flying off. Snapping back to reality, she could swear she heard Trevor say something, but shook it off as her not paying attention.
Trevor said he had a sister who was already married. Millie began to wonder what it must be like to have an older sibling, being the oldest the closest thing to an older sister she would have would be older classmates.
"That must be fun!" She said jokingly with a smile to match. "What house was she in when she was here?" She asked, folding her arms in front of her chest. When asked if Millie came from a pureblood family, she blushed a little and bit her lip. "I don't, actually..." Millie said, shrugging. "I know it shouldn't be something to be ashamed of, it's just...weird. Not that it's a bad question, it's just..." She stopped talking and laughed a little. "Sorry, that was odd." Millie finished. Trevor let his mind wander to what his home life used to be like when his sister was younger. His parents weren't around all that much, since they worked most of the time. His older sister was usually always hanging with friends, so he spent his own time making friends around the neighborhood. They always found it strange that they didn't go to their school though, and disappeared after summer. He always had to lie about being an exchange student.
He shook his head sightly, "Uh, well, she's actually a muggle," he replied simply. He grinned when she herself made it sound like she came from a muggle family, and she seemed just slightly ashamed of the fact, "Oh, well, my parents are muggles, too. I'm the only magical one in my family," he admitted, "Though you get crap from a lot of the purebloods around here, I find it kind of cool, like something to brag about to the rest of my family," he added, laughing aloud, "My sister is pretty jealous because of that," he explained.
Today felt like a strange day for him. He wasn't overly flirting like he usually was. The people who know him well would notice his change, though. He was just a tad more down and lazy lately because he had been told that he would have to stay at Hogwarts over Christmas. Though it was disappointing, he should have seen it coming, "Do you think your siblings are going to Hogwarts when they get older?" he wondered aloud.

Millie felt at ease as opposed to when the conversation started. The reason could be once Trevor had said that he was also muggle-born, she felt like giving a huge sigh of relief because she wouldn't have to answer millions of questions. Millie never really kept in touch with old friends she had, but just kept up with her old Nanny and siblings.
"Oh..." Millie said simply with a weak smile. "We have a bit in common, don't we?" She added happily. Millie thought a bit about what Trevor said about getting crap from purebloods, but getting to brag about it. "I guess so...it's fun to send the moving pictures, too because your family doesn't know how to handle it." She laughed. Millie was enjoying the laid back conversation with Trevor and wanted to keep it going as long as she could, hopefully leading to having someone to hang out with at the Ball.
Trevor's last question sparked a little bit of fear in Millie. It was something she had thought about often, but didn't really know how to approach the answer herself. "I don't know...sometimes I think they might and I'm waiting for Colin to show signs..." Millie said with a sigh, looking out the window. "How are you spending the Holidays?" Millie asked, attempting to keep up the conversation.

Trevor nodded slightly, taking a hand from his pocket and running it through his light colored hair, "I guess so," he replied. Many of the people he knew happened to have some magic in their background or something of the sort, so it was rare to finally meet someone who was a bit more like himself.
He couldn't help but laugh once more, his eyes sparkling with amusement as he recalled when he had sent his own moving pictures to his parents and sister, "I know! I sent some of my own back home during my first year, and it almost had them wetting themselves," he explained, "I wish I had been there to see their faces, though," he added, grinning at the though.
Trev frowned slightly at her reply. She seemed to want her siblings to become what she was, but she wasn't quite sure if they would, "Oh," he began, "Well, what do your parents think about it all?" he asked, raising an eyebrow. He didn't think she had mentioned her parents yet. He walked a couple steps toward a wooden wall, leaning against it slightly, staring at the ground for a moment at her next question, "Oh, um, I have to spend it here," he admitted, the disappointment evident in his tone, "What about you?" he asked, pulling his glistening blue eyes away from the floor to look at the attractive brunette once more.

Millie laughed at Trevor's accurate description of Muggle families seeing a moving picture. "Exactly!" She said, giggling. "My family sent me letter after letter asking how that happened and if they were going to die or have to get sent to an asylum." Millie gave a small sigh and tucked her hands into her pockets.
Millie gave a small cough and rubbed her nose with her sleeve at the mention of her parents. "My Parents..." She began, frowning. "Could care less, I guess. Less muggle cash to spend on education, I guess." Millie finished awkwardly. She never really brought up her parents to anyone, much less people she just met. It wasn't so much against the person, more that she didn't like talking about her parents.
"How did your parents react to your letter?" Millie asked, looking to Trevor. "Oh, um, I have to spend it here," Hearing the disappointment in his tone, Millie couldn't help but take a step closer to Trevor almost as if to comfort him. However she stopped after one step and looked at him pitifully. "I'm sorry..." She said sadly, putting her hands at her sides and clutching the fabric of her sweatshirt religiously. "Hey, if it comforts you at all, I'm going to be here for Christmas too." The idea of being away from her siblings for so long pained her, but at the same time Millie wanted to stay for the Winter festivities.

Trevor grinned, realizing how very different the magical world seemed to the muggles. When he had first arrived at Hogwarts, he thought magic was just something in fairy tales and fictional stories. He was proved very wrong though as he began using magic himself. Sometimes he still thought it was a very long, crazy dream. He didn't blame his sister for being a bit jealous.
He cocked his head to the side slightly, examining Millie closely when she began speaking of her parents. Then again, she really didn't speak long. He noticed the unease, and decided he wasn't going to continue the subject. She reminded him a bit of himself in many ways.
"Oh, well, they think it's.. cool, and all," he began with a small shrug, "They don't hate the whole magic thing or anything," he continued, "It's just.. I actually think they're kind of scared to be around me sometimes," he admitted, shaking his head slightly as he stared down at the ground once more. His relationship with his parents had changed since he learned he was a wizard. He also didn't get to see them as much anymore.
Trev looked up at Millie once more with a small smile. Now he knew someone else who was staying over the holidays. Usually most of his friends went home to visit family during the break, "Oh, well that's cool," he replied simply, "But how come you can't visit your siblings?" he asked curiously. Her seeming to have such a good relationship with her siblings, it seemed odd that she wouldn't visit them over the holidays.

"What?" Millie asked, watching Trevor cock his head to the side. She then looked out the window for a couple seconds, listening to him explain the reaction his parents had when Trevor had explained the reaction his parents had when he received his letter. "It's just.. I actually think they're kind of scared to be around me sometimes," That was when Millie whipped her head towards Trevor.
"I'm sorry..." She said quietly, furrowing her eyebrows. "People are afraid of what they can't understand." Millie added on, clenching her fists in her sweatshirts pocket. Her brothers and sister weren't afraid of her...were they? Millie gave a small flinch at the thought of her younger siblings thinking of her as something scary. She was the one who got rid of scary things for them. Millie smiled, but felt the lump in her throat. Go away...Go away... She thought towards the lump. "But how come you can't visit your siblings?" Trevor asked. Millie paused and thought carefully about how she wanted to phrase the answer. It wasn't that she hated them...just an "I want a little freedom" feeling. Millie opened her mouth, then shut it again. "I-I..." She stuttered, frowning. "I want them to become a little more...independent. It's a Mama Bird thing." She added, giving a small smile. "I sound old, don't I?" Millie asked.[/blockquote]
